WHY SHOULD I SEPARATE MY WASTE?
Complete the cycle!

By recycling your organics, you are shifting a product from"waste" to resource.  Closing this loop helps return the nutrients from your food to the soil in a completely natural way, without the use of chemicals! Not only will your organics be composted, but methane gas is also captured in a process called anaerobic digestion. This allows the creation of biogas from your organics.  Even further, we gain the opportunity to create a third product from this highly wasted resource - renewable electricity.

Cut down on landfill waste

The average American household throws away about 10 pounds of compostable waste per week.  That means roughly 520 pounds per year!  By composting, you are directly reducing the amount of waste in landfills.

Create value-added products from "waste"

When food waste decomposes in a landfill, the process releases the greenhouse gas called  methane, a greenhouse gas 21 times more harmful than carbon dioxide. When food waste and other organics get anaerobically digested, that methane is captured to create renewable energy.  It also still allows the organics to be turned into compost, what farmers call "black gold", as wel as liquid fertilizer!
