WHY SHOULD I SEPARATE and recycle MY FOOD WASTE?

Complete the cycle!

Cut down on landfill waste

Did you know that over 50% of your trash consists of compostable waste?  The average American household throws away about 10 pounds of compostable waste per week regardless of household size.  That means roughly 520 pounds per year!  By composting, you are directly reducing the amount of waste in landfills.

Create value-added products from "waste"

When food waste decomposes in a landfill, the process releases the greenhouse gas called methane, a greenhouse gas 21 times more harmful than carbon dioxide.  When you Un-Waste your food and other organic scraps with us, it all gets vermicomposted, which uses worms to help break down the material, fully recycling the "waste" into nutrient rich compost and worm castings.

Businesses that are able to provide us with pre-consumer food waste from back of house kitchen scraps give us a great food source for pigs and chickens to feed on!
